Slang of the Day: jet
Meaing: Another word for go or leave.
Usage: Sorry, but I’ve gotta jet!
Dialog:
Nicky – Well, we’re all done now.
Prissy – Great, I’m so glad we finally finished decorating the room. I really need to jet.
Nicky – Really? You headed off? I thought maybe we could get together for a drink or a little something something.
Prissy – Maybe in your dreams.
Nicky – *sigh*
I didn’t know this slang expression. Any real examples? I mean, like in a series, movie, etc.? Is it something you use? Have you heard it from other people?

I can’t think of any examples off of the top of my head from TV or movies. I do use it sometimes. I probably said it a lot more in the 80s and 90s, but I still do say it from time to time. I do hear other people say it as well. It’s used with friends, so you wouldn’t hear nor say it to your boss for example.
If I can remember a movie where they used it, I’ll let you know.
